What are the crucial requirements for establishing a successful PhD supervision? Let’s develop a mechanism to show research group leaders their individual strengths and weaknesses regarding the guidance of young scientists based on the feedback of their group members.
This project aims to improve PhD education by enhancing the quality of doctoral supervision. Presumably, many problems rather result from a lack of supervisors’ awareness than their motivation. Hence, we will try to accomplish our goal by providing a framework for communicating feedback of group members to leaders without any party having to fear negative consequences. First, we will determine the critical factors for a fruitful supervision based on the literature and experiences of the participants. Then, we will develop a system for constructive feedback communication. Finally, a plan on how to broadcast our findings is to be established.
